Spies Are Forever at 54 Below
April 17 Update

Agents of A.S.S.,

After much consideration, we have decided to cancel the Spies Are Forever concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below in NYC this June. While this is devastating for all of us, our priority is ensuring the safety of our cast, audience, and employees of 54 Below.

Even if the Shelter-at-Home protocols are lifted by that time and businesses are opening in waves, it would be irresponsible for us to gather in such large numbers that quickly. And with all this uncertainty, we can’t commit to a new date right now.

54 Below will be reaching out shortly to coordinate refunds for purchased tickets. Please direct any ticketing questions to them (but please be understanding that they working with a skeleton crew and may not be able to be as prompt as normal).

We cannot wait to bring Spies Are Forever to NYC at a future date, when we are able to do so safely! It breaks our hearts knowing how passionate and enthusiastic you were for this show. And we are incredibly grateful for you and promise to spy again.

xoxo,
TCB

P.S. We know there’s no substitute for us being all together in person, but we’ll see if there’s something we can put together to celebrate your incredible passion for this show. Stay tuned!

Kill Our Guest
March 20 Update

Howdy Tin Can Fans,

Another day, another COVID-19 update!

Over the course of this week, we have been preparing to film the Kill Our Guest tickets as we planned last Thursday.

We adjusted our plan to film without Tessa in person, to better protect her as someone who has autoimmune issues. However, when we realized that Mary Kate was in a similar situation, we decided to reevaluate; to do two of four shows without guests present felt counter to the spirit of KOG.

So we made a new plan to film all the parts of Mary Kate and Tessa’s shows that don’t include them, and film with the two of them at a later date when the situation has calmed down and it would be safe to do so. We charged ahead this week with teching and rehearsing Jon and Joe’s shows in anticipation of filming them this weekend, and filming segments for Mary Kate and Tessa’s shows.

But last night, the mayor of Los Angeles made a stay-at-home order that became effective today, shutting down all non-essential businesses and preventing any public or private gatherings outside the home, punishable by a criminal misdemeanor. This announcement was made right at the start of our first rehearsal with Joe Walker. In a split second decision, taking into account the time and resources already invested in the shows, we decided that since we would not be able to film this weekend as planned, we would film Joe’s show then and there.

So that’s what we did! Joe was a trooper, as were our other cast members, Lauren and Angela, our stage manager Tammy, and our camera op Curt (who was able to drop by with minutes notice). Without their incredible efforts, this couldn’t have happened. It was fast and furious, weird and wild, and at one point we laughed till we cried. We still have to edit it together, but we were able to film a version of Joe’s Kill Our Guest show which we plan to release as a digital ticket next week.

The other three shows will, unfortunately, have to wait to be filmed until we are out of the woods on this unprecedented pandemic. But they are ultimately coming! And we are grateful that everyone on the team banded together to make sure we were able to present at least one of the shows to you.

We are continuously grateful for your understanding and patience as we’ve tried to adapt to the changing landscape. And hope, at the very least, Joe Walker’s Kill Our Guest show will offer a little reprieve from the noise of the serious world and your social distancing boredom.

Please continue to take care of each other and wash your hands!

With love,
The Tin Can Brothers

Kill Our Guest
March 12 Update

Howdy Tin Can Fans,

In light of the escalation and severity of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have decided to cancel next week’s performances of Kill Our Guest 2. We’re devastated to be letting anyone down who was making the trip (from near or far) to see this show, but feel strongly that for your safety and the safety of our team, it would be irresponsible to move forward as planned.

Just today, the City of LA announced they will be canceling all official City events over 50 people, and limiting capacity in public owned buildings to 50 people. L.A. County’s chief health officer Dr. Barbara Ferrer also urged all private groups and businesses to voluntarily cancel any large gatherings and reminded members of the public who feel sick to stay home. It is important to us that we take the advice of California State government health professionals seriously and do our part in helping prevent the spread of COVID-19. Allowing so many of us to congregate in a small theater would be putting too many people at risk.

As of now, our plan is to continue prepping the shows and film them at the Zephyr Theatre next week with no audience. Under these new circumstances, we will devote more time to making creative choices with the filming, resulting in a more unique and fun digital ticket. For any current Kill Our Guest 2 ticket holders, we are able to offer a partial refund, or complimentary bundle of these enhanced digital tickets for all four shows. Due to several factors, we are unfortunately unable to reschedule the show for a later date.

Purchasing a ticket to a live event and supporting your favorite artists can be a significant decision, especially for those who carefully budget their spending. And the fact that you’ve chosen to be a patron of this creative endeavor is an act that we appreciate enormously. Unfortunately, in this unprecedented situation, we have already spent thousands of dollars on this production and to do a full refund would cause our small business to go into massive debt. While we completely understand that there is no substitute for the experience of a live show, we hope that the options we’ve offered reflect our gratitude to you for buying a ticket. The last thing we want to do is disappoint those of you who support us, and we will make absolutely every effort to still make this a fun and worthwhile purchase for you.

Thank you so much for being such remarkable supporters of our work and for understanding that this difficult choice is made in the best interest of everyone’s health and safety. Please reach out to us at tincanbros at gmail dot com with any questions or concerns regarding this decision and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Take care of each other and wash your hands!

With love,
The Tin Can Brothers
